Lantern Festival

Every year, the city of Luoyang lights up for the spectacular Lantern Festival, one of China’s most important traditional festivals. In 2026, this event will take place on March 3, marking the end of the Chinese New Year celebrations.
At nightfall, the city’s streets, parks, and historic sites are decorated with thousands of colorful lanterns depicting animals, flowers, and mythological scenes. Visitors can admire these illuminations, watch traditional dragon and lion dances, and participate in riddle games written on the lanterns.
